INTERCONNECTIVITY
[evolving connection abilities with immediate and distant environments and entities, including humans]

Concept:
Imagine an alien race living in a completely different paradigm, communicating via sounds reminiscent of the human concept of “music” who can “see” the sounds, similar as human concept of synesthesia. Imagine this alien is trying to tune in surrounding environment, looking for a ways to co-exist within unknown habitat. Every sound has the same potential to interact, all sounds are equal participants in ecological organism. The alien is trying to find his own equal place within, the same as any other sound. This alien is me.

Seems, whole my life I am exploring the path of “connection” - sometimes I am more conscious, with a clarity in my mind and sometimes I am simply floating in the stream of consciousness - listening, watching, feeling its way around me … however always with the same wish for connecting with surrounding world - this reality.

The “CONNECTION” seems the answer for everything, it is departure point - start of everything.

I am playing almost every day, or at night - as I am rather nocturnal creature. I am fortunate to have little studio just aside the house, often at night without disturbing anyone. I am playing mainly with headphones to hear everything in great detail, it helps me to listen in higher concentration. I have various sound-devices and microphones in the garden, it picks up sounds and vibrations of surrounding environment, it works like giant sensor trying to connect with the world around. I am listening from inside studio and playing with “it”. The surrounding sound world is my orchestra. My contribution is not heard outside, the surrounding reality is intact of interference. I am trying to find “my place” in “it”. The same - absolutely equal as every participating particle of human, animal or weather origin or any other entity. How to be together in balanced, harmonious way? How to recognize “our place”? It is a mystery. However, sometimes I do feel everything in harmony, strange sense of balance. It just “sounds right”, it is hard to put words on “it” - you can feel it in the guts. I am attempting to sustain that sensation for as long as it is possible because it feels good.

I would like to replicate the same concept in LIVE, concert situation. The most suitable venue would be St. Caimen's Church of Ireland as it is surrounded by open space of graveyard with a few trees accommodating some wildlife (birds, possibly bats and insect). The most interesting time for concert would be across dusk (to be determined closer to date), the transition from light to dark when wildlife is the most prominent in sound.

Sound system and mixing desk for concert situation
1-2 tables with various devices such as bubbling machine (aquarium with various bubbling devices activated and controlled with air-pumps, inside aquarium are hydrophones depicting the underwater sounds live), 5-6 plasma-electric balls, Tesla coils, strobe-lights (all used as soundsources depicted with electro-magnetic sensors, ultrasonic detectors and other special microphones), “kwatar” (4-string fret less electric guitar with effects) and body-rattles.

Outside the venue*:
Microphones placed behind church with long cables leading inside venue, being heard inside, simple WSi.

Visitors will be asked not to talk at all inside church during listening. However, they may generate abstract "meaningless" sounds ...
